This month we had 238 winery updates and 149 wineries releasing wine.

Now, let's dive into the wine releases...

I've been visiting Paso Robles, Edna Valley, and Sta. Rita Hills for decades, ever since my college friend Randall relocated to the area—first Morro Bay, then Cayucos, and now Pismo Beach.
Our visits usually include golf, winery stops, and some fantastic home-cooked meals. A few weeks ago was no exception. Randall and I stopped at El Lugar winery, where he's a wine club member.
We had the chance to taste their latest releases—a well textured Chardonnay, a vibrant Pinot Noir, and a bold, savory Syrah.
Each wine showed a strong sense of place and the finesse El Lugar is known for. It was a great reminder of the quality coming out of the Central Coast this time of year.

The next day, after a round of golf, we headed to Center of Effort winery and were treated to stunning views and a strong lineup of wines. We tasted their Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Rosé—each one crisp, balanced, and expressive.
It was a perfect way to wind down the day and take in the beauty of the Edna Valley.

We then made our way to Claiborne & Churchill Winery, where we were greeted by a lively crowd and a welcoming atmosphere.
The tasting lineup offered a great mix of their signature varietals, and we enjoyed sampling the wines while soaking in the energy of the place.

With a little time left, we made a final stop at Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, where we were warmly welcomed by Paula, Stephen Ross’s wife.
She walked us through their full lineup—polished, well-crafted wines across the board. The tasting room has a modern, inviting vibe, tucked into an industrial part of town.
It's off the beaten path but well worth the visit. We were joined by my friend Randall (seated), making it a memorable end to the day.

Back in the Napa Valley, my friend and I visited Melka Estates for a tasting hosted by Sylvie, their knowledgeable and welcoming general manager.
The tasting room was beautifully designed, with a unique display of soil samples from their vineyard sites across Napa and Sonoma—a great visual tie to their terroir-driven approach.
We began with their bright and focused Sauvignon Blanc, followed by a series of expressive Cabernet-based blends that balanced power with elegance. The reds had 5 to 6 years of age, reflecting their commitment to pouring wines that are ready to enjoy.
