WineRelease.com's August 15, 2002 Monthly Newsletter

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 663 wineries strong!

September is the biggest month for releases (over 150 wineries plan releases!), so carefully peruse the list.

Housekeeping issue: With a dearth of new wineries and updates to existing wineries, the "To Purchase Wines from the Winery" link has been removed because updating it proved onerous. To purchase a release from any winery, simply follow the link from the winery's home page (if it has a web site). I added a date, such as "Last updated information for this winery on: 8/15/2002," so you will know how current the information is. I also added the wineries to this monthly email so they will be remided to send me their updated wine information.

Okay... On to the show...

September 2002 Wine Releases

August's recommended winery mailing lists to join:

Skewis
Hank and Maggie Skewis founded Skewis Wines with the intention of producing high quality, vineyard designated Pinot Noirs from The North Coast region of California. Wine Critic Robert Parker wrote "What a discovery, What a performance! Who is hank Skewis, the winemaker/proprietor of this small estate? Readers are going to be posting this question once they taste these two marvelous Pinot Noirs." (Wine Advocate, Issue 132, 12/23/00)

Emilio's Terrace
Emilio’s Terrace Cabernet Sauvignon is an 4.5 acre estate-grown vineyard in Oakville, Calif planted in 1990. The wine is made exclusively from fruit grown on the terraced hillside vineyard named after Emilio Perez, the property manager who has cared for the vines for more than 10 years. Winemaker Joe Cafaro crafts 500-600 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon each year with their first vintage 1996, released in 1999.

August's recommended web site to visit:

WineCommune.com
WineCommune is the Internet's largest person to person wine auction site. They are putting on "A Taste for Life", their 2nd annual wine tasting, dinner and auction for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). A great way to enjoy wine and donate to a good cause.

Special announcement
The Taylor Family Foundation (TTFF), a private non-profit organization, was formed in 1991 by Elaine and Barry Taylor for the purpose of preserving the wellness of children. The Foundation raises money to support programs for children in Northern California with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases and disabilities. On Sunday, August 25th they will host their 12th annual "Day in the Park" fundraiser. There are many rare wine auction items as well as wine tasting tours and dinners to bid on. I have attended many of the "Days" in the past and will be at this one as well. I recommend it highly.

Till next month!
